Trek Velocis Road Shoe FAQ

What is METNET?

METNET is a new technology, proprietary to Trek, engineered to alleviate the hot foot, numbness, and tingling many cyclists experience — without sacrificing pedaling efficiency. Through a responsive design that allows the shoe to stretch and compress around the forefoot, METNET helps relieve those common cycling-related foot discomforts, so you can perform better.

How does METNET work?

METNET stretches in areas of the shoe that most commonly cause foot-related discomfort or pain, specifically around the 1st and 5th metatarsal heads and the 5th metatarsal tuberosity. Stretch is achieved in two ways. In Trek RSL Knit, the engineered knit fabric naturally stretches and relief is provided directly to problematic areas of the foot with the placement of a METNET exoskeleton. In Trek RSL Road and Trek Velocis, stretch is created by laminating a uniquely perforated synthetic upper with a stretchy backer.

How should I care for these shoes?

Wipe your shoes with a damp cloth if they’re dusty and dirty after a ride. If they’re grimy and crusted with mud, remove the insoles, loosen up the BOA® dial, and dunk them in a bucket of water mixed with a bit of mild dishwashing soap. Scrub them gently but thoroughly with a soft brush, paying close attention to BOA® dials and cleats. Rinse your shoes in cool water once you’re done. Finally, stuff your shoes with newspaper and leave them to dry out. Never put your shoes in the dryer or leave them to dry near a heat source.

Are replacement BOA dials and laces available?
