What’s different about the FX+1 frame compared to previous versions?

This is a brand-new frame that takes the elements of the FX+2 and Dual Sport+ models and adds a boost of throttle.

What is the weight of the complete bike?

FX+1 weighs about 50lbs.

Is the frame compatible with electronic shifting groupsets?

Yes, this frame is compatible with electronic shifting groups.

What e-system is on this e-bike?

This model uses Hyena's hub-based electric system system that can boost you via pedaling or or throttle. It has 60Nm of torque to help carry loads and climb hills and has a full color display that is bright and easy to read.

How fast will the throttle boost me?

FX+1 is available in two models:
FX+1S: Class 2/3 Hybrid - US model (not legal in California): Throttle goes up to 20mph with a pedal assist up to 28mph.
FX+1: Class 2 - California and Canadian model: Throttle goes up to 20mph with pedal assist up to 20mph.

Is this e-system compliant with the latest safety certifications?

Yes! All Trek and Electra e-bikes are compliant with the UL 2849 standard and additionally all our e-bike batteries are compliant to the UL 2771 standard.

Why did Trek choose the Hyena e-system with throttle for FX+1?

This e-system was chosen for its reliability, lightweight design, long-range capabilities, and an easy-to-use throttle assist.

Is there an app for this e-bike?

Yes! You can connect your FX+1 throttle bike to the Trek Central App to customize ride modes, view range status, battery health, and more. CTA: Check out Trek Central

Can you add a Range Extender?

No, this bike is not compatible with a range extender.

How do the turn signals operate?

There are left and right turn signal controllers on the bike’s handlebars that activate the rear light and flash for the direction pressed. You will also see an indicator light on the HMI display screen as well.

Can this e-bike be ridden with the throttle lever removed?

Yes, the FX+1 (S) e-system will function normally as a pedal-assist e-bike without the throttle connected. Please note: this does not legally reclassify your e-system from Class 3 to Class 2 as this is completed via firmware.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

The battery will take up to five and half hours to charge with the EasyMag charger

Is the battery removable?

The battery should only be removed by an authorized Trek dealer. Do not try and remove the battery at home.

Can you upgrade to a bigger battery?

No, the FX+ 1 frame was designed to fit the included 540Wh battery. Larger capacity batteries typically have larger dimensions that will not fit in the frame. Additionally, the system is programed to only work with the 540Wh battery we’ve selected. Do not swap or use non-approved batteries on your Trek e-bike to maintain safety and compliance.

What if I want more range?

Range for FX+1 will vary based on a number of factors like the weight on the bike, the terrain you're riding, and wind conditions. In addition, how often you use the throttle vs the pedal assist will also effect your range. Throttle will use up more battery as it's boosting the bike purely on motor power while pedal assist will give you more range. If you want to further maximize your range, you can adjust the individual assist levels to decrease power use in the Trek Central apps' Motor Tuning feature.

Is there a specific way to attach the EasyMag charger?

The EasyMag charger has a directionless mount so it easily (and magnetically) snaps on the charge mounts on the frame without requiring a specific orientation.

How will I know my EasyMag charger is charging?

The ring of LED lights will activate to show charging is in progress and how much charging remains for full capacity.

Is the EasyMag Charger portable?

Yes, it is portable and slide on and off the wall mount to store at home or take on the go.

What mounts are included on the FX+1?

There are mounts for a rear rack, front rack, water bottles, and fenders. Lights are included on the front fork and rear saddle.

Can I attach a trailer to the bike?

The FX+1 uses a bolt-on rear axle type and is compatible with rear trailers that can attach to a standard QR rear axle.

What is the maximum rotor size?

Max rotor size is: 180mm front, 180mm rear.

Which front rack is compatible with the FX+1?

The front rack mounts are compatible with the Bontrager Carry Forward Rack (547612). Other racks will fit but you will need to measure the mounting points on the rack to ensure proper fit.
