How long should it take to service a bicycle?

On the spot work is usually completed in an hour or less. We can usual complete more complex work in around 72 hours. Some of our stores are able to offer loan bikes when we are unable to meet a timeline. and no parts need to be ordered. This is subject to availability.

Are bikes high maintenance?

The more complicated the bike, the more standard annual maintenance is required. Newer bikes tend to have more integration requiring additional work to service internal systems. Additionally, most electronic systems require diagnostics and updates annually.

Is it worth repairing my bike or replacing it?

When repair costs exceed 50% of the MSRP or market trade of the bicycle, we investigate replacement as an option. This also depends on the frequency and intensity of use.

Is repairing a bike hard?

Things like electronics, hydraulics, and compatibility are some of the most difficult areas of bicycle repair. These generally require specific and expensive tools and training that a home-mechanic might not have access to. That’s why your expert Trek Mechanics are here to help.

Is it worth rebuilding an old bike?

The expected lifespan is usually the warranty terms of the product. While frames might have a lifetime warranty, most components are warrantied for 2 – 3 years.

Flat changes are the most common.

Do you tip bicycle repair?
Should you tip mechanics for bicycle repairs?

No.
No, our mechanics love working on bikes. A tip is not required!

Can I service my bike myself?

Yes, bike maintenance starts at home! Ask about in-store clinics on how to care for your bike.

Can a carbon frame be repaired?

Carbon repairs void the warranty on any bike and change the characteristics of a bike itself, possibly distributing force in ways which were not intended by the manufacturer.
If you decide to seek carbon repair, there are many companies that offer such services.
However, we advise that you thoroughly and independently research options to make an educated decision. For these reasons, at Trek, we do not suggest, nor offer, carbon repairs on any of our bicycles or other brands, including repainting. However, we are happy to assist with any disassembly or reassembly of a bicycle.

How do I fix a flat tyre on a bike?

We offer free flat clinics to enhance your ability to change a flat.
