What is different about the frame compared to previous versions?

The new high-end Verve+ lineup replaces the existing Verve+ 4S model with a new frame design that further refines the sleek lines of the Verve+, keeping it stylish while adding new user enhancements to the overall package.

How do you charge the battery?

The battery charges much like a smartphone does. Plug the Bosch standard charger into an electrical socket and connect it to the plug on the side of the down tube, or simply remove the battery and plug it in. All five green LEDs will light up for a short time once the battery is fully charged, then the system will turn off and all LEDs will go dark.

How long does the battery take to charge?

4A charger: 50% in 1.8 hours, 100% in 4.9 hours
2A charger: 50% in 3.8 hours, 100% in 7.7 hours

Is it compatible with Range Boost?

No.

Can the internal battery be upgraded to a larger size?

Yes! This bike is compatible with Bosch Powerpack batteries of 400Wh, 545Wh, 725Wh and 800Wh. For the 725Wh and 800Wh battery, you need to use a higher battery cover though (SKU: W5280748).

Can I leave the battery on the bike?

Yes.

Is the battery water-resistant?

The battery has an IP55 rating, which means that it is sealed from low-pressure water splashes at any angle but should not be fully submerged in water.

Can I lock the battery?

Yes, but when storing the bike for extended periods of time, we recommend keeping the battery out of extreme heat or cold. Bring the battery inside with you in those conditions.

What is the best way to store my battery?

Store the batteries in a dry location at room temperature. Fully charging or fully discharging results in higher loading of the battery. The ideal charge status for lengthy periods of storage is approx. 30 to 60 % or two to three LEDs on the battery indicator.

Are spare keys available?

Yes. Spare keys are available through the lock manufacturer, ABUS. They’ll need the key code printed on a card that’s included with the bike. The key code is also stored in the remote and can be accessed by an authorised retailer in the Diagnostic Tool 3, or by the rider using the eBike Flow app.

Can I ride Verve+ without the assist?

Yes, you can. The motor and the battery are built into the middle of the bike, so the weight is balanced much like a non-electric bike. The bike is heavier because of these pedal-assist features, but because the weight is centralised, you won’t feel the bike sway like you would with a hub motor or rack-mounted battery.

Will the lights still work if the battery is 'dead' and stops providing assist?

Yes – the lights will work for long enough to get most riders home!

Can I charge by pedalling?

No. Regenerative motors are more commonly found on hub motors. Trek uses a more efficient Bosch mid-drive motor that is built into the frame. Most regenerative motors give negligible energy back to the battery and sacrifice a lot in efficiency.

How many assist modes does Verve+ have?

Verve+ has four levels of pedal assist: Eco, Tour, Sport and Turbo. Riders can quickly change modes while riding or standing still. Using a lower level of assist saves the battery, while higher levels of assist help riders easily accelerate and climb hills.
