Read more'The Slash and the new Vivid shock are a true power couple and required almost zero tuning to get me to a happy spot [...] props to Trek on nailing a great tune for most riders [...] Trek Slash ranks very high on my list of bikes ridden in the last two years. If climbing takes a back seat to downhill capabilities – fun, charging hard and going big – you may not want to wait until we’ve logged enough miles for our long-term review to pull the trigger.'
Read more'This is without doubt the most efficient high-pivot idler bike I’ve pedalled. While the travel is plush, there’s good support so you can pop and pump down the trail, with a lively and light ride character, while still remaining stable and composed when the trails get rough. Trek has shown what's possible here and it's impressive'
Read more'Slash 2024 is the next evolutionary stage of high pivot bikes, bringing all the advantages of a high pivot suspension design while at the same time eliminating most of its drawbacks.'
Read more'So there are a lot of little things on this Slash that combine really well to produce extra sparkle on the trail. First off, let me just say the suspension performance is simply sensational. The shock requires very little force to move and it changes direction quickly – it feels as buttery as a coil shock. I’d even say the small bump performance is better than any air shock I’ve ridden. Diving into the deeper end of the travel it feels like there is more than 160 mm available.'

Read moreThe Slash's high main pivot allows the axle to move rearward as the suspension compresses, so the back wheel moves with the force from bumps and gets out of the way faster. On the trail, it feels ultra-smooth while maintaining more momentum with insane traction.
The Slash's oversized upper idler not only eliminates the pedal kickback caused by high pivot, but its size and position also give you just the right amount of anti-squat for efficient pedalling. The lower idler takes chain tension off the derailleur so you get smoother shifting and suspension performance.
You get a 29" front wheel for monster truckin' over stuff, with a smaller 27.5" wheel out back for getting rowdy. Want full 29er speed? Just swap the lower shock mount (sold separately) to lower BB height for running a faster wheel out back.
The Slash's storage door is bigger, easier to use and the plastic parts are all made from recycled materials.
Adjust the leverage rate with just a flip of a chip. Ride it in the Less progressive setting for a plusher feel perfect for rugged trails with square-edge bumps. Flip it to More progressive when you're hitting big features and don’t want to bottom-out, or when you want to run a coil shock.
Install angle-adjust headset cups (sold separately) to tweak the head tube angle a degree steeper or slacker to your liking – all without impacting your bottom bracket height.
Size-specific chainstays provide balanced handling to keep the ride nimble for smaller riders and improve front wheel traction on climbs for taller riders.
A meticulously engineered chainstay guard reduces chain movement for a blissfully quiet ride while the removable downtube guards fend off rock strikes. There's even a layer of Integrated Carbon Armour under the paint for additional durability.
Shimano XT is the original mountain bike groupset and trusted by generations of mountain bikers around the world. Whatever the trail, wherever you ride, XT is your solution for mountain biking today. Learn moreThe Slash has plenty of room for long droppers, big coil shocks, meaty tyres and up to 190 mm of front suspension. Plus, there's a place for accessory mounts under the top tube for when your storage door is already full of snacks.
Tubeless Ready rims and tyres make it easy to ditch the tubes so you get better traction, fewer flats and less weight. You're ready to roll straight out of the box with the included TLR rim strips, valves and sealant.
Learn moreKnock Block has your frame's back when things go wrong. It prevents your handlebars from spinning all the way around in a crash, so your hoses won't get yanked and your controls won't hit the top tube.

Bigger is better. The oversized seat tube diameter gives more support and strength for longer travel droppers, and allows for more robust, durable internals that work faster.
Slash is built for the hardest riding in the harshest conditions with a threaded bottom bracket that's more robust than press fit.
With 108 points of engagement, Rapid Drive gives you nearly instant acceleration instead of a clunky lag when you step on the pedals. You get smooth, immediate power to blast out of corners and hammer through the rough stuff. And that extra pedal ratchet adds control that can make all the difference when tackling a tricky climb.
