Verve+ 2 Gen 3 FAQ

What is different about the frame compared to previous versions?

Verve+2 is an update to the existing model with a brand new frame that has an internal non-removable Bosch battery and a new integrated cockpit design.

What is the rear brake mount? What is the max rotor size?

Rear: Post mount, max 180mm
Front: Post mount, max 160mm

What is the maximum tire size? (with and without fenders where applicable)

27.5x2.4” with or without fender

What is the hub spacing?

Rear: 135 x 5mm Quick Release
Front: 100x5mm Thru Skew

What is the drivetrain on this bike?

Verve+2 utilizes a Shimano CUES 9 speed drivetrain with an 11-36 cassette for a wide range of gearing options.

What is Shimano CUES?

Shimano CUES drivetrains feature incredibly smooth and stress-free shifting thanks to LINKGLIDE tooth shaping on the cassette. CUES cassettes utilize thicker teeth and a more robust base that results in up to triple the durability of Shimano’s non-CUES drivetrains – especially useful in high-torque e-bike situations.

How do you charge the battery?

The battery charges much like a smartphone does. Plug the Bosch standard charger into an electrical socket and connect it to the plug on the top of the down tube. The controller will light up for a short time once the battery is fully charged, then the system will turn off and all LEDs will go dark.

What type of charger does it come with and how long does it take to charge the battery?

The battery will charge in about seven hours with the included 4-amp charger.

Can the battery be upgraded to a larger size?

No, the battery is internal and cannot be upgraded. However, we do offer a Bosch Powermore Range Extender if you want to double your range. Please check your with your Trek retailer on availability.

Is the battery water resistant?

The battery has an IP55 rating, which means it is sealed from low-pressure water splashes at any angle, but should not be fully submerged in water. You should not use a high-pressure hose or power washer directly on an electric bike. The high pressure can force water into electrical components, connectors, or the battery, which can lead to damage.

What if I need to replace the battery or battery parts?

Replacement batteries are available at your local Trek retailer, and many areas offer a battery recycling program to responsibly dispose of your old battery. Please see the service manual for small part details.

Are spare keys available?

Yes. Spare keys are available through the lock manufacturer, ABUS. They’ll need the key code printed on a card that’s included with the bike. Make sure to record your key number in your owners’ manual just in case you lose the card. The key code is also stored in the remote and can be accessed by an authorized retailer in the Diagnostic Tool 3, or by the rider using the eBike Flow app.

What is the range?

To calculate an approximate range based on factors such as rider weight or terrain, check out Bosch’s handy range calculator.
