How do I interpret the new MTB naming conventions?

The best way to interpret them is with the visual cheat sheet that is attached to the B2B article. If you're more of a word-learner here is a verbal explanation:
- Old tread pattern number: 1/2/3/4/5/6
- New tread pattern name: Vallnord/Sainte-Anne/Montrose/Gunninson/Brevard/Galbraith
- Old levels: Comp/Expert/Team Issue
- New levels: Comp/Elite/Pro/RSL
- Old constructions: XR (XC/Trail), SE (Enduro), G (Downhill)
- New constructions: XR (XC), XT (Trail), SE (Enduro), G (Downhill)
- Example of full old name: SE5 Team Issue
- Example of full new name: Brevard RSL SE

What casing options are available?

- Pro XR: 60TPI casing with sidewall puncture protection
- RSL XT: 120TPI casing with bead to bead and apex puncture protection
- RSL SE: 60TPI casing with sidewall, bead to bead, and apex puncture protection

What tread patterns are available?

- Vallnord: Fast-rolling XC race tread for speed and grip in hardpacked conditions
- Sainte-Anne: All-around XC tread for speed and grip in mixed conditions
- Montrose: Fast-rolling trail tread for grip and speed in hardpacked conditions
- Gunnison: All-around trail tread for grip and speed in mixed conditions
- Brevard: All-around trail tread for grip in mixed and loose conditions

What is the difference between the rubber compounds?

Brevard and Galbraith are offered in two different compound options:
- Trail Dual-Compound: medium center and soft shoulder (*Brevard Pro only)
- Trail Triple-Compound: medium center, soft shoulder and supportive base (*Brevard RSL & Galbraith RSL)

Do they have any puncture protection?

Yes, all new tires have puncture protection
- XR: sidewall protection
- XT: bead to bead and apex protection
- SE: sidewall, bead to bead, and apex protection

Are they suitable for eMTB use?

We suggest tires with SE or G construction for eMTB use

Are they tubeless ready?

Yes, all Brevard & Galbraith tires are tubeless ready

Does Brevard replace one of the current tire models?

Yes, it replaces the current XR5/SE5 families

Does Galbraith replace one of the current tire models?
