Diamant Mahon FAQs

In which versions is the Mahon available?

We offer the Mahon in the following six versions:

  • Mahon World
  • Mahon Trip Pro
  • Mahon Trip Plus
  • Mahon Trip Core
  • Mahon Style Pro
  • Mahon Style Plus

The Mahon Style is an urban bike. The Mahon Trip is a trekking® bike. The Mahon World is a touring bike.

In which sizes is the Mahon available?

Mahon Style & Trip:

  • Stepover: M, L, XL, XXL (XXL only Mahon Style Plus)
  • Midstep: S, M, L

Mahon World:
  • Stepover: M, L, XL, XXL

How are the sizes measured in centimeters?

We measure the frame size as the distance from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube. We recommend that all customers take a test ride and seek professional advice from our dealers.

How much does the Mahon weigh?

All versions weigh between 14.4 and 15.9 kg and have a permissible total weight (bike, rider and load) of 136 kg.

Which drive systems are possible on the Mahon?

The Mahon frames are equally compatible with internal gear hub and rear derailleur. Although a conversion requires the replacement of many components, it is possible and reversible at any time. In conjunction with internal gear hubs, you can use belt drives. Mahon are not compatible with Rohloff or Pinion gears.

Which forks are possible on the Mahon?

The Mahon frames are designed for both rigid forks and suspension forks. Depending on the tire width, suitable suspension forks can have up to a maximum of 100 mm suspension travel.

Which tire sizes and widths are compatible with the Mahon?

Tires up to 50-622 or 65-584 are compatible. Make sure that there is at least 6 mm clearance between the tires and other parts (e.g. fenders and their hardware).

Which front carrier do you recommend?

We recommend the Tubus Tara Big Apple as a front carrier in combination with our original rigid fork. Alternatively, you can also attach a drybag cage/holder to the left and right of our rigid fork. Front carriers should not be used on suspension forks.

What is the maximum weight limit for the Clever Rack?

The Clever Rack can carry up to 25 kg. In any case, the rider must make sure that the total vehicle weight limit (bike, rider and load) of 136 kg is not exceeded.

Which bags are compatible with the Clever Rack?

Most bags in the market will fit. For a particularly good fit, on the sides we recommend the Ortlieb BackRoller Classic panniers. At the top, MIK-compatible bags or accessories will fit best. Please note that mounting the accessories on one or both sides of the rack (instead of the top) will result in the best, most stable ride experience.

What additional attachment points for accessories does the Mahon offer?

There are five pairs of eyelets on the frame (stepover). Two on the top tube, one on the seat tube and two on the down tube. The rigid fork also offers options for attaching accessories on the left and right.

Are all bikes equipped with fenders and pannier racks?

Yes, all Mahon bikes have dynamo-powered front and rear lights. Both lights have a practical standlight function.

Yes, all Mahon bikes have a dynamo-powered front and rear light. Both lights have a practical parking light function.

Can a folding lock be mounted?

Yes, on any of the mounts for waterbottle cages where it may fit. Follow the instructions for your specific accessory to protect your bicycle from harm, and make sure that it doesn’t obstruct steering.

Can I attach a ring lock?

Yes, you can use the Abus 4650L or 4750L ring lock, for example. The Abus lock is available in a version with a retaining key and one with a non-retaining key.

Is it permitted to attach a child seat?

Yes, a child seat can be mounted on the seat tube of the frame (not the seat post), in observance of the pertaining sections in the Diamant Owner’s Manual. Transport of children is done at own risk; follow the instructions for your specific accessory to protect your bicycle from harm. In any case, the rider must make sure that the total vehicle weight limit (bike, rider and load) of 136 kg is not exceeded.

Can a child seat be mounted on the front of the bike?

No, we strongly advise against this type of child seats.

Can I attach a bicycle trailer?

Yes, in observance of the pertaining sections in the Diamant Owner’s Manual. Use of trailers is done at own risk; follow the instructions for your specific accessory to protect your bicycle from harm. If you are unsure, contact your bike shop. In any case, the rider must make sure that the total vehicle weight limit (bike, rider and load) of 136 Kg is not exceeded.

Why do the Mahon and Nhoma look so similar?

The Nhoma and Mahon use the same frame platform. The names are an anagram to each other and thus tell of their relationship. However, the orientation of the two models differs greatly. Nhoma are bikes with a drop bar, which we equip for sporty use. Mahon are bikes with flat handlebars that enable an active but comfortable riding style. Mahon and Nhoma are like fraternal twins.
