  • Madone knocks Roubaix off top spot.

It takes a special kind of bike to be voted Cycling Weekly's Sportive Bike of the Year, three times in a row, it doesn't happen by accident. It is some acheivement then, to knock that bike off the top spot, but that's exactly what the Madone 5.2 Performance has done. In the latest issue of the magazine, the editors were full of praise for the bike.

"If you want to feel like every bit of your effort is making you go forwards, the Madone is the best on test, and lightest too."

No doubt this is in reference to the oversized botton bracket. The 90mm width of the area is almost an inch wider than competitors bikes and adds to the stiffness while putting the power down. This proprietry BB system also reduces complexity and loses weight.

Describing the new Madone as 'dynamite' they went on to say-

"With the Madone, what you end up with is an outstanding sportive bike".

It's nice to know that the two years the bike took to develop were not wasted and that the engineers and designers put as much passion into their creation as to produce a bike that surpasses expected norms.
