Trek/ K•SWISS triathlete Lesley Paterson won the XTERRA World Championships Sunday in Maui, HI aboard the Trek Superfly Pro 29er hardtail. In off-road triathlon’s premiere event, Paterson chased down much of the competition during the technical bike portion of the race with plenty of energy left to reel in the remaining participants on the run’s energy-sapping beach finish.

Standing at just five feet (1.524m) tall, Paterson chose to race on a 2012 Trek Superfly Pro 29er hardtail, her win showcasing the range in size of riders that can experience great fit and handling of the Gary Fisher Collection 29er. The only modification that Paterson made to the stock bike was the addition of Bontrager 29-0 1.9” tubeless tires.

“My Trek Superfly 29er hardtail rides like a dream,” said the new World Champ. “It’s light but stiff, and all about performance. This bike is efficient and oh so comfortable. Who says small girls can’t ride 29ers?!”

Displaying her versatility in multisport racing in her first season on the Trek/ K•SWISS team, Paterson also took wins in the OC International Triathlon, and the Ironman Mooseman 70.3 triathlon in New Hampshire aboard her Trek Speed Concept.
