Everything Considered.

Eco Design — if you want to build bikes better, then treat them as living things.

To build bikes better, we adopted the basic principles of Eco Design, which uses the proven OKALA method to score an item’s impact on the environment from its origin to usage and eventual end of life. In other words, if we think about a product in terms of its lifecycle — with its own birth, life, and its eventual end — we then begin to understand how it impacts the world around us.

Meet the Eco Bikes.

Inspired by the French porteur bikes of the mid-20th century, Belleville is designed front to back to reduce environmental impact. Fully equipped with steel front and rear racks, generator lights eliminate the need for wasteful batteries and the tires contain regrind and sustainable harvest rubber. The bike is a 3 speed internal but is compatible with single and multi speed derailleur drivetrains.

  • Features a comfortable, upright riding position
  • Oversized front and rear racks enhance utility and are perfect for heavier loads
  • Natural rubber Bontrager H2 ECO tires are sourced from ISO 14001 producers and the rubber is certified sustainable harvest
  • Front and rear generator lights are powered by pedaling
  • Recyclable steel frame reduces vibrations for a smoother ride. Plus the pedals, fenders, chainguard, racks, and one-piece stem and handlebar are steel, too
  • Available in Women Specific Design (WSD) model

Green is in the Details.

Birth: In choosing the materials for a recyclable saddle a number of options were examined. Just as we found steel to be the gentlest material for a bike, we used it for the rails and ensured that the base, cover, and foam could be just as easily recycled.

Life: Designed for a more upright riding style, the Nebula Eco Design saddle will accommodate a number of different bikes and riders. The upright riding position of many bikes creates a need for a wider saddle so that pressure is dispersed across a larger space. This creates a much more comfortable experience and encourages you to use your bike more often.

Afterlife: While the Nebula Eco Design is tough enough to transfer to another bike if you so choose, it is also a perfect example of what we call “Design For Disassembly”. If you decide you no longer have a need for it, all you have to do is snip the zip ties, and place the cover and base in your plastics recycling and the steel rails in their metal recycling.
