Overview

It's right for you if...

You have refined taste in mountain bikes, and don't like to settle. You want a bike built to tackle the whole mountain and rule it all with the finest technology the bike industry has to offer, from its light and stiff carbon frame and wheels that track through the hairiest lines, to the FOX Factory fork and fully wireless SRAM XX1 top-tier groupset.

The tech you get

A featherweight OCLV Mountain Carbon frame built to handle the rough and rowdy, a pair of finely laced carbon wheels that track through technical terrain with ease, and SRAM's top-tier XX1 AXS fully wireless electronic drivetrain. Plus, you get the silky smooth travel of a 150mm FOX Factory 36 Fork with EVOL air spring and GRIP2 damper and 140mm of FOX Factory Float rear suspension with 2-position damper, all topped off with adjustable geometry for fine-tuning your ride to you and internal frame storage that lets you keep your setup tidy without leaving behind trail essentials.

The final word

Fuel EX 9.9 is a bike built to satisfy those with the finest taste. It pairs together an all- mountain trail capable carbon frame with the finest components you'll find on a modern mountain bike, from its carbon hoops to wireless SRAM XX1 AXS shifting. It's all wrapped up with adjustable geometry, so you can fine tune your ride to always feel how you want it.

The Walkthrough

favorite_borderWhy you'll love it

  1. You care about the finer things in life, like silky-smooth suspension that feels greater than the sum of its numbers, and fully wireless shifting that keep your setup tidy and low maintenance
  2. You can tackle any trail on the mountain with its progressive geometry that makes light work of steep, punchy climbs, and turns around to rally the descents
  3. It comes with light and stiff carbon wheels that make quick work of technical terrain and keep you on your line, even when things get hairy
  4. We expanded our size range to ensure a better fit for all riders, and use the best-fitting wheels for each frame size: XS frames get 27.5˝ wheels, S frames get to choose between 27.5˝ or 29˝, and sizes M and up get 29˝ wheels
  5. With the adjustable angle headset (angled cups sold separately) and Mino Link, you can choose from six different geometry configurations

Features

Internal Storage

Internal frame storage makes it easy to ditch the pack and still carry your ride essentials.

Active Braking Pivot

Active Braking Pivot allows our engineers to tune how the suspension reacts to acceleration and braking forces independently. That means you get more confident control when you need it most.

Slack or steep, the choice is yours

Install angle adjust headset cups (sold separately) to tweak the 64.5-degree head tube angle a degree steeper or slacker to your liking — all without impacting your bottom bracket height.

How it works

Adjust the sus for full send

Adjust leverage rate with just a flip of a chip. Ride it in the Less progressive setting for a plusher feel perfect for rugged trails with square-edge bumps. Flip it to More progressive when you're hitting big features and don’t want to bottom-out, or when you want to run a coil shock.

Size-specific stays

Size-specific chainstays provide balanced handling to keep the ride nimble for smaller riders and improve front wheel traction on climbs for taller riders.

Business in the front, party in the back

Craving the nimble ride of 27.5˝ wheels but don’t want to sacrifice the speed of a 29er? No need to choose. Fuel EX is mullet-ready, just throw Mino Link in high, toss on a 160mm fork, and get ready to party.

BITS: Your trailside savior

Cleverly integrated into the steerer tube, the included BITS multi-tool has everything you need for trailside adjustments and repairs.

New frame, new possibilities

Forward-thinking frame design opens possibilities for riders who want full customization. A bigger seat tube lets you roll with a beefier, longer dropper post, and broader shock compatibility plays well with tons of aftermarket shocks, including coil.

Need an adjustment?

Make your head tube angle slacker or steeper by one degree with angle-adjust cups.

Threaded bottom bracket

More robust than pressfit, threaded BBs hold up in nasty conditions and make servicing easier.

Rapid Drive 108 rear hub

With 108 points of engagement, Rapid Drive gives you nearly instant acceleration instead of a clunky lag when you step on the pedals. You get smooth, immediate power to blast out of corners and hammer through the rough stuff. And that extra pedal ratchet adds control that can make all the difference when tackling a tricky climb.

On guard

Two-piece dual-density bolt-on down tube guard protects from rock strikes and shuttle damage — all the while quieting the ride with a beefy chainstay guard.

ISCG mounts

International Standard Chain Guide mounts offer easy chain guide installation and adjustment.
