What are the key features of this bike's frame?

The Townie 7D (EQ) frame features our Flat Foot Technology® for a relaxed, upright riding position. The Step-Thru frame comes in 24" and 26" sizes in which dimensions change proportionate to wheel size. The Step-Over frame comes in 26" and 26" Tall which is taller and longer to accommodate larger riders.

What are the appropriate tire sizes with and without fenders?

The Step-Thru models come with 24 x 1.95" and 26 x 2" tires. The Step-Over models come with 26 x 2" tires. EQ models of both styles come equipped with fenders. Electra strongly recommends adhering to the original tire size.

How many gears does this bike have?

It features a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, giving riders flexibility for flat roads and mild hills.

Is this bike good for beginners or returning riders?

Yes! It’s designed for comfort and ease of use, making it perfect for new or returning bikers.

Can I ride this bike in the rain?

Yes, the tires offer good grip on wet surfaces. The EQ models includes fenders to help keep you dry. Note: Riders should always use caution in wet conditions as grip is lower and brakes may not be as effective when wet.

What kind of brakes does this bike use?

The Townie uses linear-pull brakes for consistent stopping power.

Is this bike suitable for long-distance rides?

The Townie is best for casual, recreational, or urban rides rather than long-distance touring.

Does this bike have any accessory mounts?

Yes, the Townie 7D (EQ) comes with a kickstand. The EQ models are also equipped with fenders and front and rear lights. All models are compatible with aftermarket fenders, lights, and rear MIK racks.

Does this bike have wiring for lights? What lights are compatible?

Yes, the Townie 7D EQ comes with Spanninga hub-powered front and rear lights. The non-EQ models are compatible with Electra's Retro Headlight (SKU 590174) and Safety Front Bike Light (SKU 1051857), as well as other widely available accessory bike lights.

Is this bike compatible with child seats?

Yes, the Townie 7D (EQ) is compatible with child seats when paired with an approved bike rack that has been tested and rated for child seats.

Is this bike compatible with trailers?

Yes, the Townie 7D (EQ) is compatible with bike trailers.

Can this bike be carried with a car rack? What type?

This bike can be carried with a car rack. It is recommended to use a rack that has a minimum carrying capacity of 35 lb/15.87 kg and does not secure over the top of the tires, as the fenders will interfere with its attachment (EQ models only).
