Trek / Bontrager fit and sizing

Cycling apparel is made for performance, comfort, and style—but it needs to fit well to work well. Not all apparel fits the same, so check out the sizing guides below to see how ours measures up. Here's everything you need to know to find the perfect size and cut for the way you ride.

MEN'S CLOTHING SIZING

Bontrager garment fit is based on an athletic build, and follows true sizing. Reference the clothing size chart to identify your size, then see the item's fit profile to understand how the silhouette will move with your body.

MEN'S CLOTHING

Measurements on the sizing chart reflect the actual measurements of the body’s circumference (not the product’s measurements). Use a cloth measuring tape to measure your body. All measurements should be taken while standing up straight with feet shoulder width apart. For maximum accuracy, take measurements next to skin.

1CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of your chest under your armpits with your arms relaxed at your sides. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the ground.

2WAIST

Measure around the natural waist, which falls at the natural curve of the body—the indentation between the hips and the ribcage. The measuring tape should be close to the body but not snug.

3HIPS

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of the hips and buttocks. Keep the measuring tape parallel to the ground.

Accessories

When it comes to cycling gear, the small stuff holds a lot of power. Think about it: a little discomfort from your gloves, socks, or other accessories can have a huge impact on your mood and the quality of your ride. Bontrager always designs for comfort, but getting the right size is important. Here's how to choose Bontrager accessories that will fit and feel great on every ride.

GLOVES

A glove that fits properly will not constrict motion. Bontrager gloves are anatomically designed for a no-bunch fit. To find your appropriate size, measure the circumference of your hand using a cloth tape measure or a piece of string and a ruler. Use the chart below to determine the proper glove size based on your measurement.

Bontrager shoe sizing

The Size Conversion Chart below shows how Bontrager's sizing compares to other common sizing scales. However, because the fit of Bontrager cycling shoes is optimised for on-bike comfort and performance, your Bontrager shoe size may be different than that of your street shoe or athletic shoe sizing. For the best results, visit your local Bontrager shoe retailer.

The chart below also includes a foot-length conversion scale (in both inches and cm). Follow the steps to measure your foot length correctly and then consult the conversion chart to determine your Bontrager shoe size.

Determining your Bontrager shoe size

Don't have a Brannock device at home? Not to worry, follow the instructions below for at-home sizing or pop into your local Trek retailer to be properly measured.

Step 1

To measure your feet, start by wearing socks you typically ride in and lay a blank piece of paper on a hard, smooth surface.

Step 2

While standing, distribute weight evenly and have someone trace each foot with a pencil taking extra care around the toes and heel areas.

Step 3

If you are working alone, sit down on a chair and lean forward to shift more weight onto the foot you are going to trace.

Step 4

On your outline, measure the distance from the heel line to your longest toe line and cross-reference with our sizing chart above. If your feet are different lengths, use the longer of the two measurements.

Shoes are built around a three-dimensional mold called a last. A last's shape can vary, and this affects a shoe's width, depth, height, and overall fit. In other words, fit is about more than your shoe size. Bontrager offers shoes built around several different lasts. Here's what you need to know about lasts to choose the shoe that's right for you.

Inform Pro last

High-performance toe spring with a secure fit for ultimate efficiency.

Inform Race last

High-performance toe spring with a slightly roomier fit from the ball through the mid-foot.

Inform Performance last

Relaxed fit with a flatter foot position for more versatility and utility.

inForm Athletic last

Relaxed, roomier fit similar to a cross-trainer to combine on-bike and off-bike comfort.

Step 1

Start by placing your bare foot in a small amount of water, ensuring that the entire bottom of your foot gets wet.

Step 2

Carefully place your wet foot on a on a darker piece of paper so it leaves a visual impression of your unweighted arch.

Step 3

Compare your arch impression to the Bontrager Arch Index below to find which of the three insole heights best fits your arch profile.
