Restoration
Think globally, act locally. Since the beginning, Trek has understood the importance of taking action to protect our homeland. When Trek built the 16 miles of single track outside the Waterloo headquarters, it was a top priority to restore the trail's surrounding prairies to native oak savanna. Through a partnership with the Aldo Leopold Foundation, Trek planted tens of thousands of oak trees and native seeds in an effort to restore the land to its native state. Each year, the trail managers perform a controlled burn of the site to remove non-native flora. This practice of restoration has had an astounding effect on the Waterloo prairie. Not only have Trek's efforts drastically improved the condition of the land, this process has created a pastoral paradise for every cyclist and nature-lover.
