Chris Horner captured the Tour de White Rock Road Race on Sunday, July 20th, the finale of the 10-day, eight-race British Columbia Superweek Series. The Tour de White Rock is one of Canada’s classic races, on the picturesque seaside hills of the City of White Rock.

Horner, who finished 15th in last year’s Tour de France, got away on a break late in the race with Matt Shriver (Jittery Joe’s) and Andrew Pinfold (Symmetrics). He used a devastating attack up the Columbia Street hill on the backside of the final lap to win the 134-kilometre race. Chris Horner cruised up Marine Drive for a 12-second victory and the $1,500 first place prize. Shriver finished second and Pinfold, who'd won the Tour de White Rock Criterium on Saturday, was third.

Since arriving for Gastown on Wednesday, and competing in the Giro di Burnaby on Thursday and Tour de White Rock, Horner has been a one-man-team up against the other well oiled teams.

For the veteran cyclist who finished 3rd overall, the Tour de White Rock Road Race is his first victory of the season and his 61st as a professional rider.
