About Connect2

Sustrans Connect2 is an ambitious UK-wide project that will make it possible for millions of you to make your everyday journeys in a way that is good for your health and our environment.

Connect2 will transform local travel in 79 cities, towns and villages across the UK by creating new walking and cycling routes for the journeys we all make every day.

New bridges and crossings will be created over busy roads, railway lines and rivers that currently stop people getting around by foot or bike. Each crossing will link to a network of walking and cycling routes, making it possible for you to get directly and safely to the shops, school, work, the park and to the countryside. Connect2 will put you back in touch with your local area, your family and friends.

Sustrans needs your support to win £50 million from the Big Lottery Fund

Sustrans needs you to vote for Connect2 to make it a reality. Connect2 is competing on TV against 3 other projects in the Big Lottery Fund’s: The People’s £50 Million Contest this December. Who wins the £50 million will be decided by a public vote. Sustrans really needs you to register your support today so we can send you an email or text to remind you to vote for Connect2. Online voting opens on Monday 26th November at www.thepeoples50million.org.uk Lorraine Kelly will be championing Sustrans Connect2 on an ITV1 show on Tuesday 4^th December. Telephone voting will begin on Friday 7th December.

Connect2 will make a real difference

With 79 Connect2 schemes planned across the UK from the White Cliffs to Derry, from the Millennium Stadium to Norwich City, from South Devon to Perth, there’s likely to be one near you. In fact, some 6 million people live within a mile of a Connect2 scheme. 

But it’s not only the people who live close to a Connect2 scheme, or even the hundreds of thousands of children who go to a school near a Connect2 scheme, who will benefit. We all will. Obesity and climate change are the big challenges, but we can each play our part in tackling them. The more we can get ourselves active in our everyday lives and the more opportunity we have to travel under our own steam for local journeys, the more chance we all have of changing our world.
