Story Highlights

  • Travis prepares for Single Speed World Championships with style.

The SSWC is this weekend and previous winner Travis Brown will be on hand to try to take another victory. Just to make sure he puts in some effort, the guys in the US have built a new bike for this years event. Here's a few notes from one of the guys involved.

"Just a little one-off custom frame with prototype bottom bracket in time for Single Speed World Championships.  You know the run of the mill thing...sent off to a Harley vendor to have a full polish job...then back in the building for a record quick graphics application...built up in time to catch a morning flight on the way to Europe.  Ludicrous.  Thanks to valiant efforts from everyone involved, we have a bike packed and ready to travel tomorrow.

A few things we learned along the way -

We can weld up a beautiful frame that shows off our talents and strengths

Polished frames are impossible to keep clean especially during build up

My new XT cranks are gone...for a good cause

Of note the specs are:

Custom 69er frame with horizontal dropouts and mid size BB

DT 240ss/Bontrager Maverick hubset custom painted brown

Polished Rhythm rims (tubeless)

Dry X Tires

Juicy Ultimate brakes

Race Lite Big Sweep bar

32/16 drivetrain with Bontrager chain guides".

Sounds pretty. Good luck Travis, with the 69er Collective snapping at your heels, I'm sure you'll have a great ride.
