Story Highlights

  • Trek fully supporting the work of CycleScheme and helping get more people on bikes.
  • Cyclescheme recognised as one of the UK’s smartest small businesses.

Cyclescheme, the UK's number one provider of tax-free bikes for the Government's Cycle to Work initiative, has been chosen by a judging panel including Deborah Meaden and other leading entrepreneurs such as Bebo Founder Michael Birch as a winner of Smarta.com’s inaugural ‘Smarta 100’.

The Smarta 100 is the ultimate business accolade, recognising the UK’s smartest small businesses. Smarta.com has uncovered remarkable companies who have gone the extra mile to differentiate themselves from the market or found clever ways to compete, from their marketing plan to their ethical stance. The result is a fascinating insight into the unique business ideas that are thriving in the current economic climate.

The finalists proved to the judges that they have what it takes to run a successful venture, from spotting a new opportunity to making it a reality. And the high-profile panel was delighted to see that ambitious people are conserving resources and generating funds to turn their ideas into a profitable reality.

Cyclescheme director Richard Grigsby commented:

“Since we founded Cyclescheme five years ago we have turned over 150,000 bikes.  The current economic crisis has seen many employees looking to cycle to work to save money and the opportunity to get a quality bike and accessories with up to 50% off means that over half of these participants are new to cycle commuting. One very exciting fact is that, a very uncharacteristic 25% of all vouchers are issued to women, showing that we are reaching a very wide range of the working populous.”
