After 7 years of anticipation and planning, and 2 weeks of wonderful games, China bid farewell to the Olympics. For us at Trek China, we too could hardly believe they were finished. Trek China General Manager Todd McKean began to lay the groundwork for Trek's Olympic activities 5 yrs ago. When asked whether or not his expectations were met he commented, "they were met and exceeded. We were the only bicycle brand to have a retail presence near the Olympic cycling venue, which to begin with gave us a step up on them. In fact, if you look at an official Olympic security map you can see we are actually inside the venue perimeter. Furthermore, with the hospitality and athlete lounge area we had behind our store, we saw no fewer than 7 federations, including their athletes, VIPs and most of the journalist who covered cycling converge on our site. That was pretty special."
Thanks to all of the athletes from around the world who joined us in Beijing to compete and create memories we are not soon to forget. Over the past two weeks we were at times amazed and at others left heart broken, but always overwhelmed with the spirit of hope that only the Olympics can offer us. In all we close this chapter in our lives feeling proud to have been part of history and look forward to seeing all of you in London in 2012. We are also proud to be part of Trek Bicycle Corporation, the greatest bike company in the world. To think that some 30 odd years ago Trek started by making bikes in a small red barn in a cow pasture and today we make the finest road, triathlon, commuter and mountain bikes in the world and are part of shaping the hopes, dreams and finest moments of so many people's lives. Thanks for being with us, we hope to see you sometime soon out on the road or your favorite trail. We will keep our eyes open for you and remember that every day is a great day to be riding a bike.
