Defending their crowns from 2007, the riders of The 69er Collective stepped up to the plate and held off all-comers to take their second win in the single speed sub category of Mountain Mayhem 24 hour endurance race. This is the biggest 24 hour race in the UK contested by around 3000 riders in teams varying from Solo to teams of ten. The single speed category grows every year so it was an even sweeter victory for the Collective in the face of greater competition.
In addition to the victory in the single speeds, the Collective also placed 6th overall in their main category of Sport Men and even more impressive was the 18th overall from a roster of 620 teams. Not bad for a group of riders who see racing Mountain Mayhem as a chance to catch up with friends and have fun on mountain bikes. Heart rate monitors and power meters are not the reason these guys go fast, they're fast because they ride, a lot.
