Comments about Trek 8500:

This bike is spectacular for the price you pay. The frame is top notch, very light and excels in every aspect, Trek has the PERFECT geometry with this bike. I would NOT recommend this bike unless you are planning on racing as its a very aggressive feeling bike and something like a 6500 with upgrades may be more comfortable for the average weekend warrior and this bike does require a bit of technical know-how to keep it running at top performance. I didn't find the seat comfortable but thats a personal thing and its different for everyone.

It would be nice to see this bike come with full XTR instead of XT for a few hundred more dollars. But you can always upgrade after you purchase.

GREAT BIKE.

Comments about Trek 8500:

This bike is excellent. It's so light & comfortable, it really makes going out for a long ride a pleasure. I thought I was comprimising going for a hardtail over a full-sus, but I'm so glad I did. It handles downhills & trails with ease. It looks the absolute dogs in the team style colours, gets compliments everytime I go out on it. I really can't recommend this bike enough.

Comments about Trek 8500:

This frame is great for hard core XC, hair-raising downhill (at speed) and technical single track.

I started on a used Trek 8000. All the 'below par' components wore out (although I do rate some of the Bontrager gear - that old bike had a great saddle!) but the frame took everything I threw at it. Welsh mountains (severe downhills and technical singletrack), French dormant volcanoes (careering across boulder laden downhills and valleys)and endurance trail rides.
I upgraded just the frame to the 8500 I was so impressed with the 8000(mainly as the old was too small for me so a bigger frames gives me better endurance) and took all my components across with me. Love it to bits.
My friend has always admired the agile feeling when tying out my custom build (he rides a Whyte 19 so that's something!) and he still complains at the speed I climb with the 8500!
The REAL quality of this ride is evident all-round but when shooting downhill it really is like flying. It's so responsive and just glides over the terrain in a balanced and controllable roller coaster ride.
Love it!
(but rememeber I have nothing left of the original (except the seatpost!)
Enjoy!

Comments about Trek 8500:

Pratically a bullet proof frame. Very stiff, fast and agil. Great for climbing and trail handling. I had the 8500 and 8900, excellent althogh the BB a little low!!
