I went from store to store for about 6 weeks before i finally went with this model. Its by far the best $$$/quality ratio out there. I swapped the tires before leaving the store with Kenda Small Block 8's. The seat is a bit hard but I dont get to sit on it alot...This bike is what its all about. I looked at all the brands and TREK is the standard out there. Nothing entry level about this ride...LOVE IT...BUSHTUKAH RULES...

I love this bike so much. I am going to start racing so i figure i need a new bike if i want to finish the race. I found this bike in my price range. I've ridden it on so much stuff and it has tackled all of it. i have never been able to ride this terrain before. The bike is very comfortable and spins up the steepest of hills. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is fairly heavy and the tires get clogged up fast. The tires are also too chunky. i know that any bike i get will be from trek.

Comments about Trek 4500 Disc:

I got this bike from alpine bikes, first impressions were that it fitted perfectly and it was every thing I needed. First imppression on my Favourite run was it handled well and it was great going up hills, but with in a month the chain had snapped, turns out the chain connector wasn't connected right. I thought it was just a minor blip but soon after the Front Derailleur fell off. after getting that fixed every thing was going well untill the chain snapped again. This was all in the last three months. So to sum up a great bike but it just is not a reliable, trust worthy piece of kit. I have also seen better spec up bikes for less money.

I first got the bike and it was amazing. when i lifted it to hang it up it was way too heavy.the 2008 model was way lighter than the 2010. it is still one of the best bikes ive ever had. i haven't ridden the bike two much. im getting clipless pedals for it so i can race.i paid for half of it and i would say i wouldn't mind paying for the whole thing. some thing i dont like though is the spring ids two stiff and there is very little adjustment. i have hear that sr suntour doesn't make a lighter spring for my model oh well

Comments about Trek 4500 Disc:

I use this mostly for mountain biking Cheseboro trails, usually at night. Also, around town.
I really like the hydraulic disc brakes that come standard on 2011 4500 model.
It handles well and I really enjoy riding it.
I only wish that the tires were better quality and the seat wasn't as hard as it is.

I'm new to the sport and wanted to drop serious pounds. i originally was going to get the 3900d but when i learned about the upgrades the 4500d had i had to upgrade. the lockout front shocks are so helpfull on long road stretches. i usually ride the santa ana river to the beach and back, 20 miles total, on the dirt side!i let my buddies ride my bike for a tester and now they are getting theirs!! I'm 6'0 and 265lbs and i got the 21 inch. i had to upgrade to the gel saddle because the original is too stiff... otherwise the best investment you can make! i have already lost 20lbs!!!!

Comments about Trek 4500 Disc:

I had a 4900 a few years ago that I grew out of. I purchased this bike because it was in my price range and I knew I wanted a Trek again. I went to the local shop and they told me to wait until the 2011's came out because of some of the upgrades they were putting on them. Since I got it I have been hitting as many trails as I can. It does a great job out there and I plan on keeping this bike for a long long time. Maybe if I keep riding like I am I will get a better model but for now I'm totally satisfied.

Comments about Trek 4500 Disc:

Had a 4500 trek back in 2008, and it got stolen. I paid only maybe $80 dollars less than the 2011 Trek 4500. This bike in 2 years it went some major upgrades, that I would have have to paid over 1k back in 2008 if not more. Brakes are great, only problem is seat and weight of the bike.

Comments about Trek 4500 Disc:

i haven't rode since i was a kid and i'm pushin 30. i bought a 3900 and upgraded twice when i ordered the 4500 disc. before it came in a already wanted to go up to the 6000 but they were on backorder so i went to the shop to check out the 4500 and i was blown away. the 2011 model upgraded all the components i wanted to buy the 6000 for. and they only raised the price of the 4500 30 bucks. since i bought the 3900 a month ago i been riding every day through my upgrades and i love the 4500. i started riding to work even and it handles great on the 8.5mi ride. and i'm 6'1" 265lbs(for now) bottom line, hell of a deal for the money.
