29er versus 27.5 versus 650b? What size wheel is best?

Mountain bikes are available with multiple wheel sizes: 29", 27.5" (or 650b), and 26". For cross-country bikes (XCaliber, Superfly) bigger wheels are faster. Choose the fastest wheel that fits which will be a 29" wheel for nearly everyone. For trail bikes (Remedy, Fuel EX), choose wheel size based on your riding style. Big 29" wheels provide a confident ride for steamrolling over obstacles. Smaller 27.5" (or 650b) or 26" wheels provide a more playful ride for jumping over obstacles. Pick the wheel size that matches your riding style.
