Trek Bicycle today announced the signing of multi-time US Pro triathlon champion and 2009 ITU long-course World Champion Timothy O’Donnell to the powerhouse Trek/K-Swiss triathlon team. After a 2012 season in which he won his second US Professional 70.3 Championship and earned multiple podium finishes, TO carries strong momentum into the 2013 season armed with the fastest triathlon bike on the planet, Trek’s Speed Concept 9 Series.

“We’re proud to welcome such a great athlete into the Trek family,” said Trek Triathlon Brand Manager Michael Mayer. “Timothy’s highly analytical approach and perseverance give him results that really make him stand out as one of the top pros in the world, making him a perfect fit for Trek/K-Swiss. We’re excited to provide the support of Trek’s dedicated race shop, and can’t wait to see what he can accomplish aboard a Speed Concept.”

O’Donnell’s first race aboard his Campagnolo Super Record EPS-equipped Speed Concept will be on March 17th at Ironman San Juan 70.3, an event he has won the past two seasons. Other major goals for the year include the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas, as well as October’s Ironman World Championships. Having dominated the shorter distances of triathlon earlier in his career, including 6 consecutive Armed Forces National championships, TO has transitioned to longer distances in recent years, while remaining a major contender for the top step of the podium.

"I'm truly excited to announce my new sponsorship agreement with Trek," said Timothy O'Donnell. "To represent Trek, an iconic American cycling brand with an outstanding pedigree and history of racing success, is a tremendous opportunity in my triathlete career. I'm looking forward to working with Michael, Brandon, and Mark and the entire Trek team... not to mention setting some blistering bike splits on the Trek Speed Concept 9 Series this season!"
