Trek Bicycle is proud to announce its support of Lance Armstrong as he returns to triathlon, the sport that launched his career as a professional cyclist. Lance will have the full backing of his longtime bike sponsor as he travels the globe spreading the message of hope to the world’s 28 million cancer survivors while competing in half-Ironman (70.3) and Ironman distance events, including the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI.
“Lance's decision to return to his triathlon roots to spread the message of cancer awareness is something we’re very proud to be part of,” said Trek Performance Brand Director Nick Howe. “The extraordinary growth of the sport along with the health-minded lifestyle it promotes make it the perfect environment for sharing this message. Seeing a 7-time tour champion take on new challenges will be fun to watch and great for triathlon. We're glad to be along for the ride."
Armstrong’s season kicks off the weekend of February 12th in Panama, after which the Texan will compete in Ironman Nice, 70.3 Texas, and the Ironman World Championships in Kona in October.
